Science
9th Grade: Biology is the study of all things concerning life. The Living Environment course emphasizes how biological organisms function and interact with one another and their environment. The content of this course will be covered through lectures, in-class practice, and lab activities. The goal of this course is to help students gain a better understanding of and appreciation for science.
10th Grade: Chemistry topics in chemistry which follow the Florida State Standards include Matter and Change, Scientific Measurement, Atomic Structure, Gases, Solutions, Thermochemistry, Acid, Bases and Salts, Oxidation-Reduction reactions, Electrochemistry, Hydrocarbons, and Nuclear Chemistry.
11th and 12th Grade (combined classes): Following state standards for three years of required science, students in the eleventh and twelfth grades may choose between Physiology, AP Biology, or Physics.
Anatomy and Physiology topics include Structure and Function of Components of the Human Body, Cellular Transport, Human Digestive System, Human Respiratory System, Cardiovascular and Circulatory System, Basics of Microscopes, Osmosis, Cellular Transportation Lab.
AP Biology topics include Structure and Function of Cell Organelles, Photosynthesis, Cellular Respiration, Cellular Transportation, Enzymes, pH, Metabolism and other topics covered in this College level course.
