Mrs. Lisa Englard

Biographical Info

Mrs. Lisa Englard is a member of our General Studies faculty, teaching 6th and 7th grade Advanced Math, Middle School Computers, 9th Grade STEM, and High School Physics. Mrs. Englard earned a BS in Engineering from Cooper Union and an MS in Education from Nova Southeastern University, and holds State of Florida Professional Certification in Math 6-12, Computer Science K-12, Physics 6-12, and Gifted Endorsement. Mrs. Englard began her career in the field of actuarial science, moving on to software development, database management, and eventually teaching, professional development facilitation, and curriculum development. A long-standing member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Mrs. Englard published several articles in its journal Teaching Children Mathematics, served a 3-year term on the Editorial Board, and continues to serve as a manuscript reviewer. Mrs. Englard presented Fluency, Understanding,  Application: A Core Approach to Assessment at the 2014 Annual Conference of the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics and a workshop on Ratio and Proportion for the Middle School Math Summit of the Public Schools of North Carolina. As a Content Specialist for Khan Academy, Mrs. Englard led the development of new standards-aligned K-8 math exercises. Mrs. Englard is an author and professional development facilitator for the new middle school math curriculum from Illustrative Mathematics, which she is excited to share with Shaarei Bina students this year.
