Mrs. Brenda WolnermanEnglish Teacher
Mrs. Brenda Wolnerman grew up in Toronto, Canada, in a traditional family. She attended Jewish day schools in Toronto, as well as Jewish summer camps, developing a deep love for the State of Israel and pride in being Jewish. Mrs. Wolnerman graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto as a Specialist in History and a Minor in Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations. Mrs. Wolnerman had always wanted to teach, and spent a lot of time while pursuing her undergraduate degree as a volunteer teacher, shadowing teachers in classrooms, and eventually working as the lead teacher in an after school Jewish program for young children. After graduating, she accepted one of two spots in a specialized Masters degree program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, in History of Education, in which she focused her studies on the history of Holocaust education and its dissemination throughout Toronto. It was at this time that Mrs. Wolnerman decided to embark upon a life-changing learning program to Israel, with Aish HaTorah, which ignited a passion in a more traditional approach to Judaism. Mrs. Wolnerman began to attend various seminars and classes in Toronto with the local Aish branch and eventually spent a year and a half learning in the Shearim Seminary for Women in Jerusalem. After marrying Rabbi Wolnerman, her passion for teaching found a new outlet, as she began to teach newcomers to Judaism along with her husband. Mrs. Wolnerman has spent the past eleven years teaching about the “why” and “how” of Judaism to women of varying ages, as well as cooking up a storm for the multitude of Shabbos guests that she and Rabbi Wolnerman have hosted throughout the years! Mrs. Wolnerman taught 10th Grade English and 9th Grade Canadian Geography at Bnos Bais Yaakov high school in Toronto. She is excited to combine her years of experience teaching, with the studies that she completed at the University of Toronto to teach English for Middle School at Sha’arei Bina.
